Albert Pool was born on May 1, 1925 in Clay, Texas to the late Lemon Pool and Alice Turner Pool. He was raised and educated in Clay, Texas and at the age of 16 he moved to Portland, Oregon. In 1953, he met the love of his life Mary Baldwin, and soon they were married on November 22, 1953. This union was blessed with two daughters, June and Kim. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. He could tell you the exact number of years, months and days that he worked for them when he retired and the count was 43 years, 6 months, and 3 days! Al also worked for the Multnomah Kennel Club for 48 years. He was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church, where he served as an Usher and as a Stewart. He enjoyed visiting the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. When he wasn't working he loved to cook. He also enjoyed sharing his life stories with everyone he met. He was a very joyful person. After retirement he worked with Loaves and Fishes, helping the needy. In the morning on June 22 he was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 84 years. He leaves behind to cherish loving memories his wife of 54 years Mary; his daughters June Miller of Wichita Falls, Texas and Kim Pool of Portland; his granddaughter Celeece Kahey of Grand Prairie, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends.
