Obituary of Alice Winters
Crypt Side Service will be held at 1:00pm. Tuesday, March 26th at Valley View Memorial Park in Newberg. Mrs. Winters passed away in Portland on March 23rd surrounded by the love of her family, she was 87 years old.
Alice Marie was born December 23, 1925 in McMinnville, Oregon the 2nd of four children to Henry E. and Myrtle E. (Brogan) Giffert. In 1934 the family moved to Newberg where she attended and graduated from Newberg High School, class of 1943. The family moved to Portland soon afterwards where she has resided since. She later married Keith Solseth for 12 years and then was married to George Winters for over 52 years until he passed in 2011. Alice worked for many years; much of it was clerical in the lumber industry. She worked for Moore Oregon Dry Kiln for over 20 years, retiring in the early 1980's. Alice enjoyed her arts & crafts, knitting, beading and crocheting. She also volunteered for many years at the schools while her children and grandchildren were attending.
Alice is survived by her daughters; Judy Solseth-Davis, Judie Winters-Case, Terri Winters-Barbatti and Janet Newley, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, brothers; Clarence and Clyde Giffert, 4 nephews and 1 niece. Predeceased by son, Gary Winters and Brother Edward Berglund.
