Alvin Vernon Jones was born in Ormond, Florida to the late Earl Robinson and the late Claudia Jones.
Alvin confessed Christ at an early age, affiliating with Greater Friendship Baptist Church in FL. Because of relocating, churches changed with each move, his love of Christ never changed!
Alvin spent most of his childhood in Daytona Beach. He graduated from Campbell High School in 1966. He immediately joined the Army and diligently served his country by fighting the Vietnam War. He received numerous awards, certificates and recognition for his service before being honorably discharged in 1970.
After faithfully serving his country, he went on to study architecture and drafting, but found a truer calling in law enforcement. He moved to California where he began an extensive career as a civil servant for the Treasury Department, first with the "Bureau of Mint" followed by " "Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms" and ultimately the "Tobacco Trade Bureau" where he eventually retired from.
During his career at the "S.F." Mint" he met and married his loving and devoted wife Lyric, and they began their lifelong journey in 1982. Transferring to Oregon in 1995, they continued to grow their faith and family.
Surviving Alvin is his loving wife Lyric Jones. Three children: Terry Jones, Kayla Jones & Damonti Jones-all of Portland. Two grandchildren: Jacob Jones & Taylor Jones (Portland) his mother-in-law, Alma Toliver (Chicago). One aunt, Ms. Eugenia Moss (Florida) one uncle, Alfonso Williams (Florida). One sister, Brendolyn (John) Cato-Gatlin (Florida). A nephew and niece, Michael Collins and Michelle Hicks, both of Florida. Three great nieces, a host of loving cousins, in-laws, co-workers, and treasured friends! Special nod to Terri Thomas (Florida) Cordell Thornton (Kuwait) Delacy Taylor (Chicago) Vernon Willis (Florida) & Warren Mitchell.
