Andema Grace Baleke

Andema Baleke passed peacefully from this life in the evening of December 11, 2024, at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. Born on October 1, 2004, in the Refugee Camp of Kibuye in Rwanda, he lived a life that radiated kindness, humor, and a welcoming spirit.

Babu exhibited a profound love for his family, cherishing every moment spent together, particularly during the holidays. He was known for his unique ability to bring joy to those around him, never shied away from any challenges of life, often starting the day by making his famous egg omelets for his loved ones. His warm personality and sense of humor were a source of comfort to many, making him a beloved member of his community.

Babu earned his High School Diploma from Roosevelt High School in 2023 before embarking on his educational journey at the University of Oregon, where he pursued Engineering. His ambition and dedication to his studies were evident, and he looked forward to all the possibilities that lay ahead.

Andema is survived by his father, Roger Longangi Baleke; mother, Celestine Nfundiko; brothers, Chikuru Baleke and Parfait Baleke; and sisters, Chito Baleke, Chiza Baleke, Rehema Baleke, and Promise Baleke. His faith was also supported by his church The Last Call Ministry, which played a significant role in his life where he was deeply involved in youth ministry, he oversaw songs and preachings overhead projection. Babu was baptized in many waters on 08/07/2021.

The memory of Babu will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, cherished by family and friends alike. His visitation will be held on December 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, followed by a funeral service on December 28, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, at the Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home located at 5625 NE Fremont Street, Portland, OR 97213. A graveside service will conclude the day's events, taking place on the same day from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

As we gather to celebrate his life, we encourage all to remember the joyous moments shared with Andema, honoring his legacy of love, laughter, and unyielding warmth.

Andema's life celebration will be held at IRCO Community Center located at 10301 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97220 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Everyone is more than welcome.
