Antonio was born in Portland OR. On April 4, 1921. He attended Lincoln High School from 1934 to 1939 and university of Chicago from 1947 to 1948. He worked as a "Gandy Dancer" (rail road maintenance) and a sawmill laborer until enlistment in the U.S. Navy in May 1942, assigned to the destroyer U.S.S. Walker serving in the South Pacific. His Medals include the WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 7 stars, the Philippine Liberation Campaign Medal with 1 star, and the Good Conduct Medal. On June 2, 1947 Tony married Elsie Grace Truitt. From this union there were 3 children, Diane, Nick and Paul. Tony worked as a salesman for Metropolitan Life over a Span of 50 years, from February 1960 to February of 2010. Company production requirements earned him qualifications for trips to the Bahamas, Bermuda, Acapulco Mexico, New Orleans, Florida, Banf Canada and San Diego. Tony was a member of the Northeast Kiwanas Club and was a recipient of the George F. Hicks fellowship award in October of 2004. He was also member of Hinson Memorial Baptist church since 1965. Viewing will be Sunday, January 6 2012 from 1 to 4pm, with services on Monday, January 7, 2012 at 10am at Rose City Cemetery & Funeral Home with military honors to follow at Willamette National Cemetery.
