Arnold Ray Snyder (92) of Portland, OR, passed away January 8, 2020 in Keizer, Oregon. He was born in Ruskin, Nebraska February 10, 1927, the son of Albert and Rheba Snyder. August of 1943, he moved with his parents and two brothers to Idanha, Oregon.
He finished high school in Detroit, Oregon. During World War II he enlisted in the Navy. After his discharge from the Navy he spent most of his time working in the lumbar industry and as a merchant seaman till 1951 when he moved to Portland, Oregon.
In 1952 he and Frankie Payne were married. He learned the building business and built houses and duplexes till 1969 when he started building motels and restaurants. He retired in 1999 at the age of 72.
Ray has a passion for the Columbia River archeology as well as collecting prehistory Native American artifacts.
Survivors include his wife Frankie, son Gary, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
