Barbara Nell (Richey) Hohlt, formerly of Crab Orchard, Illinois, passed away suddenly on Oct. 24, 2015 in Portland, Oregon. She was born April 23, 1926 to Milo and Fannie Richey.
Barbara is survived by her three sons, Mark, Eric and Rodney; daughters-in-law, Brenda and Lori; grandchildren, Erica, Jesse, Joshua and Caleb, and close family friend Jeff Towers.
She is also survived by her sister, Jo Barger of Crab Orchard, sisters-in-law Ursula Richey of Marion, Jackie Richey of Texas, and Barbara Richey of Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold Hohlt, and her brothers and sisters, Warren, Wallace, Julian, Don, and Margie.
Prior to her marriage, Barbara worked for the Marion Daily Republican and Mr. Oldham Paisley who visited her several times in Portland.
Her husband worked for Goodyear and was transferred several time during his career. As a result the family lived in St. Louis, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and finally Portland.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. November 3, 2015 at Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home in Portland . Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Although Barbara left Southern Illinois many years ago her heart always remained there and she considered Southern Illinois to be home
