Barbara Jean was born on April 23, 1926 in Spokane, Washington, the youngest of three children of John Allan and Emily Ann (Goot) McLeod. The family moved to Portland when she was young, and it was here where she attended Beaumont Grade School, and graduated from Grant High School class of 1944. She went on to attend O.S.U. and pledged Alpha Chi Omega, and then went on to St. Helens Academy. She married the love of her life, Edward Peter Walters, in Portland on October 26, 1946. Ed preceded her in death in 2006. They owned and operated Rotary Bakery for over 30 years, and for 10 years, Barbara worked as a cake decorator for Kienow's, retiring in 1988. Barbara was a talented artist, painter and cake designer. She loved being in her garden, and making quilts. After retirement, Barbara and Ed moved to Netarts, Oregon for 15 years, and Barbara returned to Portland after Ed's passing.
Barbara passed away on June 21st, 2013; she was 87 years old. She is survived by her children: Molly (Duncan) Strang, Nancy (Steve) Pendergrass, Luanne (Tom) Dinsdale, Pete (Dorrinda) Walters, and Margaret (Jim) Moran; 13 grandchildren: Emily, McLeod, Rebecca, Amanda, George, Sarah, Aubrey, Samantha, Jessica, Danielle, Jake, Allison and Connor; and 7 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother: Jack McLeod; and twin sister Bonnie. A Private family committal will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.
