Beatrice Dorothy Mellis Falk

November 14, 1922 — September 24, 2015

Beatrice Falk Passed September 24 th , 2015, surrounded by her loved ones at Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver. Her passing ended her battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Her 92 years of life started in Salford, England. Her family moved to the town of Blackpool, England, where her father Gilbert pursued his theatrical career. Beatrice blossomed into a lovely young lady in the turbulent era of WWII when she served her country in an aircraft factory. It was also then that she met her husband, Carl. After two years of being apart Carl and Beatrice finally got married on U.S. soil in Florida. After marrying, Carl brought Beatrice home to Portland where they raised a family of three, Carl, Linda, and Dorothy. In addition, she worked for Portland Public Schools. Beatrice, who was also fondly known as "Dolly" by people who loved her, had hobbies such as knitting, embroidery, needlepoint, and was an exquisite baker. Fun fact: she was not too bad of a singer herself. Her favorite movie of all time was "Gone With the Wind". Beatrice traveled extensively, and often traveled home to England. Above all, one could say that what brought her the most happiness were her grandchildren, Jeremy, Brandon, Evan, Erin and Gregory. Beatrice Falk will be laid to rest at 10:00AM on Saturday, October 3 rd , 2015 at Rose City Cemetery & Funeral Home at 5625 NE Fremont St., Portland. A public viewing will be held Friday, October 2 nd from 12 noon til’ 5:00PM at Rose City Cemetery & Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Beatrice Falk’s name to pulmonaryfibrosis.org and/or the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver.
