Bernhard Penner

Mr. Bernhard Penner was born on October 26, 1921 in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Jacob and Helena Penner. As a young man he was a cattle rancher, farmer, and a logger. Bernhard was a 1951 graduate of the Prairie Bible College in Three Hills Alberta, Canada. On September 27, 1952 he married Marguerite Schmit in Placetas, Cuba. He became a Pioneer Developer Missionary and had done mission work in Trinidad, Jamaica and Cuba. In all he and Marguerite spent 30 years in the West Indies. They moved to Portland in 1991. He was a member of Central Evangelical Church (now known as Word of Life Community Church) for the last 13 years. Bernhard died on May 6, 2007 at the age of 85 years and is survived by his wife Marguerite; brothers: Henry Penner, Pete Penner, Toby Penner, and Benjamin Penner; his sisters: Agatha Penner, Sara Penner, and Margaret Krause and by 54 nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14 at Word of Life Community Church, 4927 NE 55th Avenue, Portland. Interment in Rose City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to World Team, USA, 1431 Stuckert Rd. Warrington, PA 18976
