Betty Elaine Salvador
May 23, 1921 – February 19, 2015
The only child of Samuel “Bradford” and Hazel Swadburgh was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota and moved to Portland , Oregon as a child. Betty graduated from high school shortly after meeting the love of her life, Charles “Bus” Salvador. They married in 1943 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club. Bus was an avid golfer who played in many local tournaments with his brother Harold. Betty enjoyed attending and travelling to the golf events. They later became lifetime members of Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver, Washington.
Betty worked as a traveling cashier for Fred Meyer and was a sales associate at LaRog Brothers jewelry store for eleven years. She had a large collection of costume jewelry and dressed up for every occasion.
Bus and Betty were longtime residents of Summerplace retirement community, near Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland. In their later years, they enjoyed attending an annual Christmas bazaar, where they sold Bus’s beautifully beaded ornaments and other treasures. Following the passing of her beloved husband in 2002, Betty spent a lot of treasured time with her close friend Mary.
Betty passed away at age 93, after living a full and rich life. She is survived by four nieces and nephews, one great niece and one great-great niece in Oregon and California; and six cousins in Minnesota and Arkansas.
