Carla Jean Jones was born May 27, 1967 in Seattle Washington, one of four children of Carl and Claudia Jean (Shipley) Nordstrom. In the 7th grade Carla lost her mother and this death impacted her for the rest of her life. Even with this loss Carla was a beam of light wherever she went, and her relationship went deep with those she loved and those that loved her back. While living in the Tacoma area she met an Army soldier from Ft. Lewis. This young man was smitten by woman’s beauty and personality and a short time later William “Bill” Harlan Jones and Carla were married on June 30, 1984 in Portland, Oregon. This would be a 31 year love affair. From this union they raised two children. Carla was an active person both at home and in the community. She worked as an Accountant Technician for the Air National Guard for over 11 years, caring for the needs of returning soldier for their housing and pay benefits. While raising her children she volunteered at their schools and was active in the PTA rising to the position and responsibilities of the PTA President for the Mill Plain Elementary Schools and enjoyed being a soccer mom and coach. One of her sayings was, “If you have climbed a mountain, one of your obligations is to give a hand up to others” She will be truly missed, a void not able to be refilled.
