Carnell (Frazier) Anderson was born on February 2, 1914 in Trinity, Texas to Murph and Hattie Frazier. To this five children were born, two sons, Jack and Vern, and three daughters, Carnell, Opal, and Murphy.
Their father passed away when they still lived in Trinity. After his death their mother moved the family to Lufkin, Texas. Later she met and married Mr. Nelson. To this union a daughter Irma was born.
Carnell Completed her education while in Lufkin, and as a young adult moved to Houston, Texas where she secured work as a live in cook. Later she worked in the restaurant business as a cook. In the forties she met and married Arthur L. Butler, and they later moved to San Francisco California. In 1952 the couple moved to Vernonia, Oregon, Then to Portland.
In Portland Carnell united with the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Sylvester McCullumn. She was a faithful member until her health began to fail. At Morning Star she held different positions , participated in meetings and attended state conferences, she was also a Mother of the Church. Her pastime was reading the Bible, and she loved to sew bake.
In the mid 1960's she met and married Lonnie Anderson. They enjoyed life together until Lonnie's death a few years later. Carnell didn't have any children, but raised her oldest nephew Willie Burnett after her sister Murphy passed away. She was support for all her nieces and nephews and loved them dearly.
Carnell leaves to cherish her loving memory nieces, Betty Chinn of Portland, Jo Emily Jackson of Dallas, TX, and nephews Willie Burnett and Samuel Jenkins of Portland. Six great nieces, and six great nephews and a host of great-great nieces & nephews, church members and friends. She will be dearly missed. We love you Aunt Carnell
