Carolyn Elaine Sakamoto

March 28, 1938 — July 7, 2012

Carolyn was born March 28, 1938, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, in Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Victoria Sorber, and her father, Edward Royal Sorber. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Henry S. Sakamoto; her sister Nancy Olsen; her sons Paul K. Stricker and Todd A. Stricker (Julie); her in-laws Scott Sakamoto, Blake Sakamoto (Brenda), and Nancy Sakamoto DiSabato (Joe); and her grandchildren Drew and Riley Stricker, Austin and Adam Stricker, Zachary and Jaiden Sakamoto, and Sophia and Alexa DiSabato.

Carolyn was employed by U.S. Bank in 1956 and retired in 1994. She supported the Old Kerr Nursery Association, the Oregon Nikkei Endowment, Inc., the Japanese American Citizens League, the Japanese Ancestral Society, and Albertina's Restaurant.

Carolyn enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, traveling, attending musical concerts and plays, and attending the varied activities of her grandchildren.

A memorial tribute will be held at 3pm on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the Epworth United Methodist Church, 1333 S.E. 28th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97214. Refreshments will follow the service.
