Charlene passed away peacefully on March 4, 2017. She was born in Portland, Oregon where she resided her entire life. Charlene was a humble, graceful, selfless, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Her beauty radiated through her smile and kindness to all that knew her.

Charlene graduated from Grant High School in Portland, Oregon. There she served as Student Body Vice President and participated on the rally squad. She then attended the University of Oregon and was a long-time active member of Alpha Phi sorority. At Oregon she met the love of her life, Sam Notos, and was married April 4, 1959.  She and her husband have supported the University of Oregon and attended Duck football games together for over 57 years.

Charlene enjoyed many activities such as piano, golf, snow skiing, tennis, and Jazzercise. She was a member of Columbia Edgewater Country Club for over 60 years and began playing golf as a young girl.   She was one of the original founders of Tournament Golf Incorporated which sponsored an LPGA tournament, bringing professional women’s golf to Portland. She was also a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club and spent many years volunteering on the board for Waverly Children’s Home.

She is survived by her husband Sam Notos, daughters Cindy (Dana) Aschbacher, Pam (Sean) Scanlan, 3 grandchildren, Ally Aschbacher, Mitchell Scanlan, Jackie Scanlan, brothers Ron (Donna) Isaacs, Terry (Vickie) Isaacs, and her sister-in-law Victoria Reed.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday, March 13, 2017 at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 3131 N.E. Glisan St., Portland, OR 97232. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that donations be made in Charlene's name to the University of Oregon Foundation.
