Chris Lynne Onchi

Chris Lynne Onchi, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away Feb. 8th, 2023 at the age of 64 after a long battle with breast cancer. Chris was born May 7th, 1958 to David Boggs and Trista Boggs in Oak Grove, OR. Chris was the eldest of brothers Royal, David and Tyrell.

Chris was an avid Horsewoman. She and her horse Maverick won many awards in 4H competition, including the highest in her age and class. While attending Aloha High, she worked for a dentist and started training to be a dental assistant. After high school, Chris obtained her dental assistant degree at Portland Community College.

For most of her life, Chris worked as a dental assistant, and later owned her own mailing business. She took great pride in running her own business. Besides being a loving mother to her two children, Chris enjoyed working in her garden. She enjoyed spending her days at her home having coffee in her favorite chair on the back deck. She also loved to travel in their travel trailer to art festivals in the Pacific Northwest. Her home is full of art, and souvenirs from her world travels. Her secret passion was buying jewelry and clothes, but she only bought what she could afford.

While Chris may not be with us physically, her laughter and love will stay with us forever. Chris is survived by her husband of 36 years Harvey Onchi; children Jossilyn, and Kyle; her brothers Royal (Gela), Tyrell (Pat), and David (Lola); Brothers-in-law Gary (Diane), Dwight (Tracy), and Kelvin (Grace); and her beloved dog Coco.

There will be a Celebration of Life honoring Chris on Wednesday, March 1st at 1pm at Epworth United Methodist Church located at 1333 SE 28th Ave, Portland OR 97214. Casual attire. Remembrances may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, Ikoi no Kai lunch program or to the charity of your choice. You may also plant a plant, or tree in Chris's memory. No graveside service.
