The family moved west to Portland where she graduated from Parkrose High School, class of 1948.  After school she went to work for the Parkrose School district and later moved to the David Douglas school district retiring after over 39 years of service starting as a secretary to becoming the Secretary to the Superintendent of David Douglas School District. In 1949 she married George Carl Wegner and from that union had two sons. In 1982 they divorced.

Cora had many interests.  Her greatest earthly joys were her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was an avid reader, writer, music lover and historian.  She had an ongoing love of learning and quenched this thirst by being an active member of the David Douglas Historical Society and traveling the United States while volkswalking.  One of her proudest accomplishments was walking in every county in Oregon, every state and every capitol.  Her other great love was her church and faith in God.  She lovingly devoted many hours to supporting the needs of the church through volunteering and leadership.

Private inurnment will be held at the Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home.
