Cynthia Hancock

April 20, 1951 — August 30, 2020

Cynthia Renee Hancock of Portland Oregon passed away of Congestive Heart Failure on
August 30th 2020.
Cynthia was born in Portland Oregon on April 20th 1951 to James and Marion Benton. She
moved to Oakland California with her two children David and Treasta in 1975. She worked at
Grove Valve Regulator during most of her time in California. She married Horace Hancock in
1983 and they all lived in a beautiful home in Fairfield, California. Cynthia was a beloved figure
known for her infectious laugh, her joyful spirit and her sweet-natured demeanor. She
eventually moved back to Portland after being in California for 30+ years and surrounded herself
with family, friends and neighbors.
Cynthia is proceeded by her father James Benton, ex-husband Horace Hancock and her sister
Charlotte Benton.
Cynthia is survived by her children David and Treasta Benton, mother Marion Benton, sisters
Toni Lincoln and Aaliyah Azeem, Brothers Eddie, Ritchie, Randy, Bryon and Douglas
Benton....and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
An online memorial service will be held on Sunday September 13th 2020 via Zoom. Details on
the memorial are forthcoming and will be available soon.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sarah Lewis, cousin Linda Redford and
Cynthia’s hospice nurse Lisa for their tireless, selfless efforts and compassion during Cynthia’s
final days on earth. There are no words that can express how grateful we are for their work and
kindness during this difficult time.
