Cynthia "Cyndi" Cunningham

Cyndi Cunningham passed away on June 2nd, 2022 after a brief and unexpected battle with cancer.

Cyndi was born in Portland, OR to Ruth Ann [Harvey] Fieseler and Michael Cunningham. After attending Portland Lutheran High School she became the first woman in her family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Lewis & Clark in 1986.

In 1989 Cyndi married Nabil Haddad after falling in love while working at the local Italian restaurant Angelo & Rose's. The two were happily married for 33 years. Together they raised two sons, Jalal and Zach Haddad.

Cherished by anyone who had the privilege of knowing her, Cyndi lived her life with compassion, empathy, and an unwavering ability to step in and help anyone in need. She learned this from her grandparents, Bob and Iva Cunningham, two of the most influential and loving figures in her life.

Beginning her career in pharmaceutical research at Northwest Research in 1987, Cyndi continued her career at Radiant Research and Covance before co-founding Columbia Research Group in 2010.

After over 30 years in Sellwood, Cyndi and her family recently moved to Milwaukie into the home where she spent her final years gardening, reading mysteries and thrillers, her yearly trip to Seaside with SB, and dancing to Harry Styles with her grandson, Phyneus.

A fighter until the very end, Cyndi "was strong, she was invincible, she was woman."

Cyndi is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Nabil Haddad; her beloved sons Jalal and Zach; and her cherished grandson Phyneus; as well as an abundant extended family. We will be hosting an informal celebration of life from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday September 10th, 2022, at the Sacred Heart Fellowship Hall at 3850 SE 11th Avenue, Portland, OR, 97202. Pictures, good memories, and funny stories would be much appreciated in celebrating Cyndi’s amazing legacy.
