Darlene Almira Lunning

Darlene Almira (Teigland) Lunning, 79, of Milwaukie, OR, passed away peacefully at Pacific Gardens Care Facility in Portland, OR, on a beautiful summer morning, with her husband at her side, Friday, August 9th, 2013.
Darlene was born December 16th, 1933 in Shady Dell, Minnesota. the daughter of the late Silas Teigland and Minnie Almira Johnson Thoms Teigland Byers.
On September 20, 1952 she married Harvey Lunning in the Alida Lutheran Church, Clearwater County.
Darlene was a very talented cook, once her children were all in school Darlene began cooking professionally. She was hired as a head cook and district baker for North Clackamas School District in Milwaukie, OR. She retired after 32 years of service.
Darlene was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Portland, OR where she devoted many Sunday's teaching the Word of God in Sunday School. Later they became members at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Happy Valley, OR.
Darlene is survived by her husband Harvey Lunning of Portland, OR, sisters Lucille (Bob) Myers of Oregon City, OR, and Beverly Feighner of Kent, WA, brothers Clarence (Lois) Thoms of Oregon City, OR, Wesley Thoms of Metropolis, IL, Henry (Pearl) Teigland of Milwaukie, OR, George (Beverly) Teigland of Jacksonville, FL, and Leonard (Betty) Teigland of Waynesville, MO, children Belinda Duval of Milwaukie, OR, Kristy (Troy) Kalali-Thompson of Portland, OR, Amy (Lou) Solly of Battle Ground, Washington and David Lunning of Milwaukie, OR; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Predeceased in death by sister Lorraine Roser, parents; Silas Teigland, and Minnie Byers, and infant brother Delbert.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16th at 11:00 am at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 9800 SE 92nd Avenue, Happy Valley, OR 97086. Darlene will be transported and laid to rest in Alida, MN.
Visitation will be Thursday, 10-5 pm at the Rose City Funeral Home, 5625 NE Fremont St, Portland, OR 97213 where family and friends can come and say their last goodbyes.
