Darrell Leon Jones was born June 4, 1962 in Mobile, Alabama to Ossie Jones Jr and Frankie McGee. He attended Bessie C. Funville Elementary and John L LaHoffe High School.
Growing up Darrell had two unique pets; a monkey named “Cocoa” and a duck named “Quack Quack”. He also played the drums in his High School band.
In 1987, Darrell moved to Portland, OR and met the love of his life Arlene Rucker at Taco Bell. They married in 1991 and he became the Stepfather of two beautiful young ladies Caprisha and Marquita. Darrell loved sports – he could make calls better than the broadcasters. His favorite teams were Alabama Roll Tides and Miami Dolphins.
Professionally Darrell worked for Taco Bell and Park Forrest Care Center. Due to chronic health conditions, Darrel retired in 2004 as a dietary cook.
He accepted the Lord as his personal savior and lived a life that reflected unconditional love. Darrell was a true gentleman. He was very thoughtful and checked on family regularly by phone.
On March 18, 2020 God called Darrell home. He is proceeded in death by Ossie and Ella Jones Sr. (grandparents); Frankie McGee (mother); Ramona McGee (sister); Aunts: Patricia McCant, Barbara Bowen, and Helen McGee; and David Jones (Uncle).
He leaves to cherish his memory his dedicated wife of 28 years Arlene Rucker-Jones, his daughters; Caprisha Hunt and Marquita Corley; grandchildren; Marquel Dugas and My’Kailah Dugas, father; Ossie Jones Jr., sisters; Veronica Taylor, Monica McGee (Marilyn), Barbara Jones, Tonya Nelson (John), Annie Marie Gamble, Monique Gamble and brother; Ernie “Bub” McGee and the McGee family. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Gatherings have been postponed to a later date due to the covid-19, but we would like to thank you all for your love and support in this difficult time.
