Daryl Martin Pulley

July 4, 1945 — June 2, 2017

Daryl M. Pulley, 71

Beloved father, friend and trusted attorney, Daryl Martin

Pulley, died peacefully at home June 2, 2017 in Portland,

Oregon after a short battle with diabetes-related liver cancer.

Daryl was born on July 4, 1945 in San Jose, California to Earl

and Alvera “Vera” Pulley. He graduated from James Lick High

School in San Jose, California in 1963. While working at Santa

Clara Valley Medical Center, he met his future wife, Sonja

“Sunny” Pulley. After his service in the US

Army, he and his young family moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota

and he completed his undergraduate degree at Augustana University, class of

‘73. The family then moved to Portland, Oregon where he

completed his law degree at Lewis and Clark College School

of Law in 1976.

Daryl began a successful law practice, serving Portland

for over 30 years. He was active in the Portland community,

volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America, representing

Portland as a Royal Rosarian, serving as club president of the

Roseway Lions Club, and celebrating his life-long passion to

explore the world with the American Volkssport Association.

Sharing his adventures with those he loved was Daryl’s

passion—right up until the day he passed. He never met a

stranger, so he touched the lives of so many people while he

was out walking, eating and exploring the world. Daryl’s family

and friends could rely on him whenever his help was needed.

Daryl’s irrepressible spirt and zest for life will be sorely

missed by his children (Kenneth and Elizabeth Pulley of

Phoenix, Arizona; Kristin Pulley of Portland, Oregon; Keith and

Heather Pulley of Portland, Oregon; and Tyler and Susan Gross

of Hamilton, Massachusetts); his eight grandchildren and one

great grandchild; and his siblings (Claire Pickens, Dale Pulley,

Carol Chester and Candy Matsukado.) He was preceded in

death by his sister Cleo Sharp.

On Sunday, July 23rd at 1pm, a celebration of life will be

held at McMenamin’s Edgefield. All are welcome to attend

and celebrate Daryl’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for

donations to a park bench to be dedicated in Daryl’s memory
