With a very sad heart we have lost Daniel “Dave” Torrey, 64, of Portland. After a fierce battle with cancer, Dave peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his family on January 30, 2016.
Dave is survived by his wife Tauney of 41 years, his two daughters Caysie and Kellie, Sister Jan, Uncle Mike, nieces a nephew and many loving grandchildren (Bryant, Baylor, Brooklyn, Casdon and Brandon). Dave was a loving father, husband, grandfather and a hilarious friend to all.
Dave was born on June 10, 1951 to Daniel and Joanne Torrey in Lebanon, Oregon. He graduated from David Douglas High School, in Portland, OR in 1969, and went on to attend college before enlisting in the Army. Dave proudly served his country in Vietnam and was discharged with honors in 1972. Shortly after, he began working for Interstate Battery System of Portland. In 1986, Dave and his wife Tauney, proudly purchased the company. Collaboratively, they owned and operated Interstate Battery System of Portland until they sold the company in 2006. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, Dave continued to work hard. While receiving chemotherapy, Dave would often be seen in the shop or chasing his beloved grandchildren.
Dave had a tremendous sense of humor, which is what defined him and how he will be remembered. He loved to fish and hunt with his buddies and enjoyed his many guided fishing trips to Canada and Alaska with his best friend, John. He also loved traveling with Tauney to sunny destinations (Palm Springs being one of his favorites).
Dave made us laugh and reminded us that life is precious. It was a blessing to know him. There will be no more pain for Dave, because he is Heaven looking after his loved ones. He will be missed and never forgotten.
