David was born on April 19, 1955 in Portland to Robert and Dorothy Fleck. He attended Beaumont Elementary and graduated from Grant High School in 1973. He attended Willamette University on a scholarship for two years, and during his sophomore year he studied as a foreign exchange student in Ireland. David graduated with a B.S. in Economics from Portland State University in 1978. Upon graduation, he began a long career at Tektronix, Inc., working a succession of positions in their finance department. In 1988, David received his Executive M.B.A. from the University of Oregon.
Tektronix sent David to manage their field office in Cologne, Germany in 1996, and then two years later in London, England. Upon returning to Oregon, David decided to take a few years off to enjoy his family and began remodeling his childhood home. For the past five years, David had been working for The Childrena�(TM)s Clinic as their finance director.
David married his wife Debbi in 1986 and they settled in Tualatin. Their daughter, Amy, was born in 1993. With his family, David enjoyed travelling throughout the U.S. and Europe, and loved biking and hiking.
David passed unexpectedly on Sunday, January 2, 2011. He is survived by his wife Debbi, daughter Amy, brothers Roger (Mary Ellen) and Donald Fleck and nieces Bonnie (Andy) Fuson and Cheryl (Toby) Kuehl.
