David Nunez Wickham

David Nunez Wickham, 43, passed away suddenly on February 16, 2022 after a tragic motorcycle accident. He was blessed with a large, loving family and close group of friends. David was born in Eugene, Oregon on May 4, 1978 and is survived by parents David and Manuela Wickham, brother Allen, and sisters Juanita, Melita, and Margarita. David was a devoted husband to Mavel Morales and loving father to Sam, 9, and Nico, 7.

Raised in Central Oregon, David attended schools in Metolius and Madres.  At Madres High School he enjoyed band and soccer. There he made life-long friends and graduated in June 1996.  David attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and went on to obtain a Masters of Environmental Management at Portland State University. He specialized in the geographic sciences of ArcGIS, GIS and GPS. He worked for several years as an archeologist and also as a histotechnician and laboratory technician at Providence Health & Services. Most recently, he enjoyed working at Ed’s House of Gems selling rocks, lapidary equipment, gems and more.

In Portland, he met and married the love of his life, Mavel. He loved spending time with family and friends, camping, science fiction, jogging around the neighborhood, and loving on their two joyous children. David dedicated himself to Mavel and to raising their sons.

David prized friendship and never gave up on friends and family no matter how far apart they might be separated. David was always filled with life, love, and happiness. He made everyone in the room smile and laugh. He was a big soccer fan and Timbers Army season ticket holder. Riding and working on his motorcycle had been a life-long passion. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Please join family and friends in saying goodbye to David at the following events: The Rosary on February 24, 2022 at 6pm at Rose City Funeral Home, Mass on February 25, 2022 at 11am at St. Pius X Catholic Church and the burial on February 26, 2022 at 10 am at Rose City Funeral Home and Cemetery. You are invited to send flowers to Rose City Funeral home by 5pm on February 24th to the funeral home.
