Dean Schaffer (May 18, 1948 - Feb. 11, 2011), beloved son of Benjamin and Esther (Mohr) Schaffer, beloved brother of Audrey, Jonnabelle, Kathy, Paul, Tom, went home today to his Lord and is now in the arms of his beloved parents. Dean fell and broke his hip on 2/6 and received a partial hip replacement on 2/7, but passed away in his sleep early 2/11/12.
Dean will be missed by many relatives & friends. Nieces: Debra, Deana, Lori, Kimberly Jo, Sharon, Alice Fay, Patricia, Rachel, Katie, Tanya, Shannon, and Megan; Nephews: Jim and Andrew. Also: Aunt Pauline and Uncle Randy, Aunt Margaret, Aunt Dolores, Aunt Marcella, and many cousins and great nieces and nephews.
Dean lived at home with his mother until her passing in 1997 and then moved into a group home with the "Up & Out" organization, who he had already been involved with for several years. Dean was loved by all and usually kept everyone in stitches with his wonderful humor. He loved joking around and listening to music from the 50's and 60's. He also loved Elvis and Rock & Roll, and could identify songs after hearing only a few notes. He loved watching cartoons in the morning and western movies later in the day. Dean knew all the old movie stars and could remember their names when most of us could not.
Dean moved to the Royce Care home with Randy Royce in January 2010. Dean knew Randy back in early 2000 when Randy worked at Up & Out. Dean was very happy to be with Randy again and they got along famously, both listening to and loving "Rock & Roll". Randy & his family will really miss Dean as he was like family to them. Dean was very happy living there with the other guys. We truly want Randy and the "UP & Out" program to know how much we appreciated the care & love you gave to our brother. Please send any Remembrances to the Diabetic foundation or ARC.
