Deborah Elaine Peterman was born on November 11, 1953 in Demerest, Georgia to Ida Mae and Jack Peterman. Deborah’s father was a career military soldier where Deborah’s early years were spent in various locations in the United States and overseas to include Florida, Georgia and the Philippines. Deborah graduated in 1971 from Madison County High school in Hull, Georgia where her parents retired after father’s military service.
Deborah enlisted into the women’s Army corp. in 1971, attending basic training in Alabama and Dental assistance training at Ft, Sam Houston, Texas. After advanced training in Texas she was assigned to Ft. Riley, Kansas in early 1972 as a dental assistant where she met and married Robert Messinger on December 29, 1972. Deborah and Robert’s only child, William Messinger was born in Athens, Georgia on March 30, 1974. Deborah spent the next 3 years in Mannheim and Worms, Germany, where she worked as a civilian employee for the US Army. During her husband’s 20 years in the military, Deborah and son spent time in various locations to include, Georgia, Texas, Japan and Okinawa where she continued her civilian service with the US Army and Air force. After husband’s retirement in 1988 the family moved to Portland, Oregon where Deborah worked for various companies over the next 20 years where she retired as an office manager.
Deborah passed away in her sleep after a long illness at 4:30 AM on Thursday, April 12, 2018.
