Dell O’Neal
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10th at the Rose City Funeral Home Chapel, 5625 NE Fremont St. Dell passed away on May 27th, 2017 surrounded by his family’s love and support. He was 71 years old.
Dell was born September 28, 1945, Waco, Texas the fourth of nine children born to Henry Buford O’Neal and Lessie (Poole) O’Neal-Henderson.
He married the love of his life, Frances Jean Cotton on February 8, 1964, in Lovington, New Mexico. They later moved to the Portland area in 1971. Dell worked most of his life in the steel mill as a welder and retired in 2008 as a Journeyman Molder from Columbia Steel.
Dell loved old Motown music, Al Green to Marvin Gay melodious and Barbecuing (baby back ribs) with his special sauce in the summer time, and making sure all his grandkids kept a dollar in their pocket from Pawpaw.
Known as Mickey to Friends and Family, and Pawpaw to his grandchildren, this husband and father was loved by many. Dell was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lessie, Brothers Robert O’Neal, Jimmy O’Neal, Billy-Ray O’Neal, Kenneth Henderson, and Sister Albertha (Henderson) Evans. He is survived by Frances O’Neal, his wife of 53 years, Sons Ricky O’Neal, Greg O’Neal and wife Tamla O’Neal of Vancouver, WA, Dell O’Neal Jr. and wife Linda O’Neal, and Bobby O’Neal of Portland, OR, Brothers Henry Buford O’Neal Jr. of Lovington, NM and Cleveland Henderson of TX, and Sherman Henderson of Dallas, TX and Sister Lena Mae Thomas of Hobbs NM.
