Delores Alexandria Coover was born December 1, 1931 in Portland to William J. and Tracey A. (Arnold) Daklos, the youngest of 3 children. She was raised in NE Portland and graduated from Washington High School, class of 1949. She had a good work ethic which started at a young age from working at her parent’s restaurant. She also worked at Simons Saw and Steel and later at Mary’s Club. It was there she met a young Merchant Marine on shore leave, whom she fell in love with and married a year later on May 16, 1959. From this union she and Leonard Coover had three sons.
Delores loved her country and more so the men and women who served this great nation. She as fiercely active with the VFW and served in many positions including being the State President for Oregon in 1989. Delores was also active with Eastern Star, Amaranth and Cooties. She enjoyed cook and baking, making several cakes for family weddings, birthdays and other events. Outings including lots of dancing. She was of her Greek heritage but most of all a patriotic American.
Delores is survived by her husband of over 56 years, sons; Edward, James and Donald, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her brothers; Calvin Lewis and Thomas Daklos.
