Missionary Delores Louise Simmons, 82 years old of Portland, Oregon passed away on May 6, 2024 surrounded by family and loved ones. Missionary Delores Simmons was born March 11, 1942 to Frank Tyler and Lucy Tyler. There were 17 children and she was one of 12 that survived. Missionary Delores Simmons was born in Galesburg, Illinois. There was one thing her mother asked of her and that is that she would graduate from high school and she was so happy and proud of that accomplishment. She then immigrated to Seattle, Washington where she was employed by Boeing. She began to build a life and family having 3 daughters named Valerie, Valina and Vickie naming all their names to start with the letter V for Victory. She moved back to Galesburg, Illinois when her mother passed away and resided there until 1976. She then immigrated to Portland, Oregon to pursue her career with Boeing. She worked as a machinist at Boeing enjoying every aspect of her career until she retired from there. She had an immense passion for family, spiritual work at Greater Solid Rock, singing, artistry and gardening. A strong woman of many gifts and talents. She accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms and a perpetual smile. Many admired her faith and came to know Christ. She has 10 siblings that proceeds her: Mary Alice Henderson, Frank Tyler Jr, Dorthy Pillard, Mildred Congress, Ruth Griffin, Alfonso Tyler, Melinda Simmons, Odie Campbell, Patricia Vannoman, Jerry Tyler: Daughter- Vickie Marie Tyler. She leaves to cherish her memory: Brother- Bond Tyler: Daughters- Valerie Allen, Valina Tyler: Son- in-law- Clarence Allen: Grandchildren: Cedric Ollison, Marqueesha Ollison, MaRina Trent, Duece Trent, Abyssinia Trent, Mario Trent, Vernon Norris, Dominique Norris. And a host of great grandchildren. As she departs she will be greatly missed by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply in her love for people and Christ. The family deeply extends our appreciation, support and love for her and her family during this time. God Bless.
