Dora Lee Alexander

March 6, 1936 — May 31, 2008

On March 6, 1936, Dora Lee Alexander was born to Julia and Lenox Alexander in Paris, Texas. She attended Faulkner and Bankhead Elementary Schools and graduated from Gibbins High School. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of America, and participated in school plays and Baptist church socials.

In 1954 she moved to Portland, Oregon where she attended and graduated from Portland Secretarial School. She had a son named Todd and a daughter named Tina. She later acquired her beloved dog named Freeway.

She worked at Lumberg Nursing Home and Hercules, Inc; of which she retired after 25 plus years of service.

She was fond of visiting Reno and Spirit Mountain Casinos. Some of her favorite pastimes were: Baking, decorating, gardening, sewing, and attending her grandchildren's social and sporting events.

She was a dedicated loving mother and grandmother to her grandchildren; and supportive caretaker to her mother, Julia Alexander and stepfather, Arthur J. Brown, Jr.

Dora is survived by her son, Todd E. Cross of Portland, Oregon and daughter Tina M. Alexander of Seattle, Washington; Sisters Donnie Brown of Portland, Oregon, Gloria Boyd of Antioch, California, Sandra Alexander of Tyler, Texas; and brother Larry Alexander of Lubbock, Texas.; Stepfather Arthur J. Brown, Jr. of Portland, Oregon; 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and 1 great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother Julia Alexander, sister Homerzell Hart, and brother Charles R. Alexander.
