Dorothy Taylor died on April 14th, 2017 at the Ray Hickey Hospice House, surrounded by family and friends, from complications from COPD. She was born in Springdale Arkansas, October 29, 1929 to Louie and Margie (Byrd) Scates. She was the oldest of 10 children. Dorothy married Raymond Eagles had a son, Ray, who passed at 6 months of age due to complications. In 1942, Dorothy moved out here after her family left Arkansas, where she settled in Eagle Creek, Oregon. She worked in various restaurants as a waitress and a cook for most of her life. In 1952, she married Edward Bishop, and had two children, Michael Wayne in 1959 and Peggy Mae Lynn in 1961. Later they divorced and she married C. Russell Taylor in 1973 and they settled in Estacada. In 1993, they moved to Portland, Oregon then in 2007 Sandy, Oregon. After Russell passed, Dorothy moved into Vancouver with Peggy.
Dorothy loved cooking, and would bake at any opportunity. It was not uncommon for her to back batches of cookies and send to work with Peggy. Dorothy was an active member of the Women of the Moose Lodge, attaining the rank of Senior Regent earning her cap and gown in 1994. She remained active in the lodge until her health would not allow her to cook or attend meetings.
She was preceded her in death by some of her siblings: Freddie Lee Scates, Lula Scates, Roberta Scates, Pauline Allgeier and Verna Inez Scates. Her sons: Michael Wayne Bishop, and Raymond Eagle. Her Husband, C. Russell. Great Grandchild: Anna Marie Ackley. Son-in-Law: Lee Allen Dean Ackley.
Surviving Dorothy are her Daughter, Peggy Lamb (Husband Joel), and her grand-daughter, Michelle Bishop (Partner Nicole), 12 step-grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.
