It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas Patrick Hoyt, also known as "Rocky" to friends and family, announces his passing on May 22, 2018 with his family by his side. Doug, 62, of Vancouver,WA. Was born in Portland, OR, graduated from Madison High School and attended Portland Community College for his Electrician's license. Doug worked at Owens Illinois in Portland for 37 years. He was an Electrician until he retired June 29, 2013. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially his beloved NY Yankees. He also enjoyed family and friends, gardening, travelling, hiking, camping, fishing, rock-hounding, metal detecting, music, cooking, and projects. Doug was a very organized person and was famous for saying "organization is the key to success". Doug always knew his neighbors and would do anything to help them. Since Doug could fix anything , his service was in demand. his "Dougout" (Garage) was always a magnet for neighbors and friends. Doug is survived by his two sons; Jared Hoyt of Portland, and Nick Hoyt of Lake Oswego; his father Don Hoyt of Portland; Brother Neil Hoyt of Gulf Breeze; twin sister Val Hoyt of Portland; brother Jeff Hoyt of Livermore; and long-time significant other Cherie Veys of Vancouver. A service will held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 4:00pm at Rose City Cemetery & Funeral Home, immediately following will be a celebration of Doug's life at Colwood Golf Event Center7313 NE Columbia Blvd, Portland, OR 97218. We plan to continue Doug's Christmas tradition of placing a decorated Christmas Tree on his mother's grave as well as Doug's. In lieu of flowers please donate in Doug's name to Providence Cancer Research Center, 4805 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR.
