Edith Frances Ponta
Born June 9, 1920 Passed away May 26, 2017.
Born to Charles andMargeritta Cervetto in Portland, Oregon, Edith graduated in 1938 from Jefferson High School and began her lifelong career in the personnel department of Bank of America, where she stayed employed until her retirement.
Edith had one sister named Mary Ann who was eight years her elder. Mary used to tell stories of her little sister following her everywhere, even accompanying her on some of her dates. Mary eventually married Lewis Rice. Edith’s big sister had three children and even though Edith didn’t have children of her own, she loved her nephew and nieces as if they were her own. Those three children called her Aunt Ede and eventually had 13 children of their own, who Edith loved as her own. She would spoil them with gifts of Cracker Jacks and Screaming Yellow Zonkers! One of the grandnephews could not say Aunt Ede properly and called her Aunt TeeDee, which Edith always loved.
She was always very fashionable, with closets full of the most up to date clothing and jewelry. Edith had a very funny sense of humor, she was a hoot and had a hard time drinking wine out of a
wineglass
due to, as she put it, her "very Roman nose.” Edith was always proud to say that she was from a really large Italian family. She always brought her famous brownies to all family functions. She was the last of the generation that could tell all the family stories. She will be missed and always loved.
