Edward Gordon Usselman, better known to his family and friends as 'Eddie', passed away in the early hours of Monday, March 16, 2010 in Springfield, Missouri. He had just turned 30 years old ten days earlier. Eddie was born to Steve Usselman and Debbie Davies on March 6, 1980 in Portland, Oregon. He was named for his two grandfathers, Edward Usselman and Gordon Davies.
Eddie attended Hollyrood-Fernwood and Sandy Elementary schools, then Sandy and Gordon Russell Middle schools, and onto Franklin High School in Portland and was a high-school graduate. He played baseball from Kindergarten through 7th grade as a pitcher and was a noted player for his skill. When Eddie would visit the family cabin in Detroit, Oregon, he would ride the tires off of his dirt bike, loving every minute of it. In fact, he and his older sister Emily got in trouble a few times riding where perhaps they should not have… such as cutting cookies in the (unknown to them) new yard of the mayor of Detroit! But boy was it fun!
He loved animals. Especially Muffin, Patty and Pepper. One day, as Eddie and Emily were walking home from the Golden Arches, a dog wandered-up. He looked a little hungry so they gave him an egg-mc'muffin'. Soon, the dog belonged to them and was named appropriately as Muffin. He also loved his older sisters dog Patty, and his cousins dog Pepper. He had a large heart for animals.
Eddie's favorite food was Hang-a-burgers, spaghetti and mustard sandwiches…. Yep, mustard sandwiches…. but his biggest passion was music. He would write poems and then sing or rap them out. He loved doing this!
Eddie has now joined his paternal grandmother Norma Usselman, and his maternal grandfather Gordon Davies in Eternity, where we know they will watch over and care for him. His parents, as well as his grandfather Edward Usselman and grandmother Mary Davies survive him. He is also survived by his brother Michael, sisters Emily and Stephanie, uncles Steve Davies and Bob Usselman; aunts Pam and Kathy (Davies) as well as Lori (Usselman) Orth; sister-in-law Jennifer Usselman and many cousins and friends.
He is gone from us, but will never be forgotten.
