Eliza Idell Bradford

A celebration of life will be held at Highland Christian Center at 11 am. on Tuesday September 29, 2011. Born in Saline, Louisiana, Eliza grew up on the family farm learning hard work early on. In 1942 she married Leroy Bradford and they started a family. In the late 1940s they relocated to Portland, Oregon to get a new start. In Oregon, Eliza went to work for Dr. and Mrs. Owens for many years. She then went to work for the Hoffman's and the Wessinger's as a domestic worker where she was for over 60 years. She worked for numerous other families and their children as well. Eliza was not just an employee, she was also a part of every family even until death. Eliza was the Mother of The Church of the Living God where she was a member for over 60 years. She never let a single soul go without food or shelter. Preceded in death; daughter Flora Bradford. Eliza will leave to mourn her husband Leroy. She is survived by her brother Wimbley Houston; children Leroy Jr. (Alicia), Vernesta (L.O.), Claricce (Joe), Charneall (Albert Jr.), Charlie (Kim) and Verneall; 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
