Ellsworth “Al” Hardesty
March 31, 1918 – March 6, 2016
Ellsworth “Al” Hardesty, 97, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2016. Born in Bowman North Dakota and raised in Terry Montana, Al was a charismatic person that loved people! He spent his career in the car business, opening new dealerships, training sales crews and selling cars until his retirement. He worked and opened new dealerships in Montana, North Dakota, Washington, Oregon, California and Arizona. He brought his family to Portland, for the third time, and stayed here in 1962. Al was a semi-pro baseball player, a published poet, a musician (best harmonica player in Montana!) and a WW2 Navy Veteran, where he was a boxing champion. Al was preceded in death by his older brother Doug and his younger brother Keith.
Al is survived by his wife of 69 years Margaret, his daughter Linda Staniford (grandchildren David and Lori and 5 great grandchildren), and his son Doug Hardesty, and his wife Jeanie (grandchildren Rocky and Kelly and 2 great grandchildren).
