Elmo Benjamin Lambert passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital at the age of 72. Elmo, or Speed as family refer to him was born in Portland, Oregon to Elmo Gerhard Lambert and Evalyn Helen Beckel on January 19, 1940. Most of his life was spent in Portland. He went to school at Woodlawn Elementry and graduated from Benson Polytecnic High School on the 14th day of 1957. After high school he went into the Navy. He finished his course of study at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis, Tennessee on November 1958. He was in the Patrol Squadron Forty-Seven serving in the Western Pacific in the Iwakuni, Japan area. Time was spent in Alameda, California. Elmo was to be stationed at the NAS Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Washington, but while on leave he was in a car accident, which left him partly paralysed, and with brain damage. He spent quite a few years at Porhaven Nursing Home and then private care homes. We thank them for all their care of Elmo. He was the oldest of 8 children. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sharon Lynn Lambert, Linda Rae Lambert and Sarah Lee Lambert. Surviving are William J. Lambert of Thailand, Pauline Lehner of Goldendale, Wa., Lydia Strong of Anderson, California, and Terie Ellis of North Carolina. Many nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Novembver 1, 2012 at 1:00pm at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland Oregon.
