Elmyra Rosetta Blackford

Elmyra Rosetta Hare was born on January 28, 1931 in Fillmore County, Minnesota to Walter and Cloris Hare. Her family moved to Linnton, Oregon when she was 11 years old. She attended Roosevelt High School. She married John D. Blackford on April 28, 1951 in Kelso, Washington. She had worked as a maid for several motels near Portland International Airport. Elmyra was a member of Glenfair Evangelical Church, and had been a member of the Gresham Society of Artists. She enjoyed oil painting, tole painting, cake decorating, and writing poetry. Elmyra passed away on the morning of September 8 at her home in Troutdale at the age of 80. She is survived by her husband John; her children: Ronald Blackford, Johna Blackford, and Vicci Harmon; her sister, Cynthia Baldwin; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
