Elyesicia Chevonna Payton, of Portland, Oregon, died February 19, 2015, at the age of 22.
Elyesicia is survived by her parents Ayric and Rachel Payton, and Monica Taylor and Eric McFarlane; her brothers Ayric Thomas and Eric Green, Jr., and sisters Rayanna Payton, Tierra Frison, and Aujshea Jones; as well as her grandmothers Shirley Payton and Shirley Rudd, all of Portland. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather grandmother, Joseph Payton and Juliann Ruble.
Elyesicia was born October 13, 1992, in Portland. She attended Grant High School where she was a vocalist in the Royal Blue choir. There she enjoyed art, music, skateboarding, Starbursts, Sobe, her “Groovement,” and her many friends. She loved being part of a huge extended family. Elyesicia was a spiritual woman. She regularly read her bible and attended Hughes Memorial United Methodist Church where she also sang in the choir. Most recently, she worked as a gas station attendant; a job she enjoyed because she got to help people with something so mundane but make them smile about it.
Elyesicia loved everyone – “if love was a person, it was Elyesicia.”
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Hughes Memorial United Methodist Church, 111 NE Failing, with graveside services to follow at Rose City Cemetery.
