Evelyn Drayer

Evelyn Drayer was born May 15, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She departed this life on November 17, 2011, in Portland, Oregon. She was one of four children birthed by Betty Harris.
After being born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Betty Harris and Willie Johnson, the family moved to Denver, Colorado. She resided in Denver, graduating from high school, and meeting Eddie C. Drayer, Sr. After a couple of years dating, they were married, and in 1953, moved to Portland, Oregon.
Evelyn worked in the housekeeping trade for many years, but the majority of her time was spent as a homemaker. Besides raising and caring for her immediate family, she also participated in the growth and development of many others. Her wisdom, love, and kindness, was an inspiration to all, and she is already being greatly missed. We all realize that God sometimes works in mysterious ways, and although she attempted to prepare us for this moment of sorrow, there never seems to be enough preparation, or a right time. All we can do now is to thank God for lending Evelyn to us, and for the 80 years that she was able to bring joy, and happiness into our lives. During her years here with us, God was truly missing an Angel.
She leaves to mourn: her husband, Eddie Sr.; sons, Danny, Eddie, Jr. and family; one daughter, Monica Jones and family, a niece, Debra R. Green and family, all of Portland, Oregon; one brother-in- law, Lloyd Baker and family of Seattle, Washington., one brother, Merle Johnson and family, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Johnson; mother, Betty Flowers; daughter, Beverline Ross; and son, Victor Drayer.
