Florence was born Florence Arlene Hansen to a large family of 7 children on September 12th, 1924, in Hancock, Minnesota. She left Minnesota in 1943 to come to Portland to find her own way, and found work in the Swan Island Ship Yards. There, she met the love of her life, Everett "Curly" Brower. Married 66 years, they raised a family of 5 and lived a heartfelt life in Portland, the last 59 years in the same home in South East.
Arlene, as she liked to be called, had a passion for: traveling, mainly road trips with the kids back to Minnesota to visit her family and to Oklahoma to visit Curly's family; crochet; various card games; and for her family. Arlene is survived by her sister: Jo Ann; her children: Jackie, Mary, Lou, John, Rob, and Ed; her 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
A survivor of the Great Depression and the Van Port flood, her thirst for life, love of family, and compassion was unmatched. Mom/Grandma, you will be missed and you will always be loved by those your touched with your heart.
