Florence Catherine Cole was born April 2, 1913 in Ann Arbor, MI; the daughter of Edward and Amanda Kay. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1931 and attended business school where she took instruction in stenography and short hand.
In 1922 Florence and her family were joined by her sister Betty. On June 9, 1934 Florence married Sheldon Cole of Ann Arbor (1906-1965) and had one son, Edward, born in 1940. In the summer of 1947 the family moved to Portland.
Her working career included; stenographer for Lincoln National Life, pharmacy technician for the VA outpatient clinic in downtown Portland, and lastly as a stenographer for the Mt. Hood National Forest. She retired in 1978. Florence enjoyed her home, gardening, and sharing good times with family and friends.
Her memory survives through her son, Edward, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and longstanding neighbors and friends.
