Frank Aaron Carr was born at Emmanuel Hospital to Robert and Judy Carr in Portland, Oregon on July 7, 1961. He weighed seven pounds seven ounces. Frank attended Parkrose High School graduating in 1979. At the age of 17 he started his first job at Jensen Manufacturing pushing a broom, which later lead to learning how to make restaurant furniture. Little did he know this would lead into a career of custom furniture.
On December 23, 1981 at a party with Parkrose friends, he found the love of his life, Julie Townsend, who also attended Parkrose. From that day on, they spent everyday together. On August 7, 1982, the were married on the hottest day of the year. They spent their honeymoon in a travel trailor on Julie's parents property in Long Beach, Washington, where they had both spent their childhoods due to Frank's grandparents living up there and Julie's parents having property up there.
Frank and Julie welcomed their first son Christopher Allen on October 28, 1983. From there Frank's career at Jensen had ended due to layoffs so he was able to spend the first eight months of Christopher's life at home with him.
On August 1, 1984 his journey began at West Craft Chair where he learned the craft of high end custom furniture. His main boss Ralph Fitzgerald taught him everything he knew. Frank later became the mill supervisor after Ralph retired.
On May 26, 1989, Frank, Julie and Christopher welcomed their second son Nicholas Aaron. Frank was a wonderful father and taught his boys many things from working on cars to help building his loving in-laws Maury and Bea Townsend their dream beach house at Long Beach, Washington. Many weekends were spent building even all the pets. Max our golden retriever, Sam our cat and George our parakeet traveled back and forth while building was going on. Frank was Maury's right hand, except he was left handed which Maury always joked that for a left handed person he really knew how to use tools. They loved Frank as if he was their own son.
Frank's career at West Craft ended after 18 years when the company closed. He ventured out on his own for four years with his own company. Due to his illness he closed the business. In a full circle he went back to work at Jensen and worked there upon his death.
At the time of his death, Frank found the most important part of his life, sobriety. He had 18 months of being clean. We are so proud of how hard he had to work at this disease. He loved going to AA meetings, he was the main coffee pourer at the Monday night group. We would like to thank all of the people who helped him along with his journey Len, Melissa, Royce, Caroline and all the members of AA and a special big thanks to Colleen.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Julie, his sons Christopher and Nicholas, also his loving cats Baylee and Elvis, Father and Mother in law Maury & Bea Townsend, brother in law David Townsend, Brother Leonard Carr, sisters Laura Anderson, Tina Sowe, Mother Judy Carr, two nephews and four neices. Frank was preceded in death by his father Robert Carr.
Rememberances can be made in his name to the Oregon Humane Society or the 12 x 12 AA group on NE Glisan Street.
