Franklin Nysoe Bunch

May 21, 1912 — February 8, 2008

Franklin Nysoe "Tude" Bunch died of cancer in Portland, Oregon on February 8, 2008. Born on a wheat ranch near Blalock, Oregon on May 21, 1912, he was the first of seven sons and five daughters born to David Frank and Flossie May Emerson Bunch. Franklin spent his childhood years in Adams, Oregon. He graduated in 1931 from Harrington High School in Harrington, WA. Franklin married LaFern Prewitt in 1935 and raised two daughters, Frankie Faye and Frances Rae. He lived in Wallula, WA where he farmed and began working for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1937. With the construction of McNary Dam, he transferred his family to Spokane, owning and operating The Circle B Motel. He transferred to Portland in 1958 where he worked for the Pacific Fruit Express until he retired in 1977. He married Alta Mae Wilson in 1987. Together they could be found tending their beautiful vegetable and flower garden, bringing joy to those who saw it.

Frank is survived by his wife, Alta of Portland; his daughter, Frances Bunch of Spokane; step-daughter, Darleen Breezley, four brothers, Cecil Bunch of Kennewick, David Bunch of Oak Harbor, Royce Bunch of Adelaide, Australia, and Robert Bunch of Kennewick; two sisters, Florence Lillibridge of Ogden, Utah, and Delores Kennedy of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Linda, Suzanne, Anita, Donald, Joanne, Michele, and Roxanne; 2 step-grandchildren, Lynn and Steven; 13 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, LaFern; two brothers, Delbert and Willis; three sisters, Doris, Lucille, and Eileen; daughter, Frankie; and grandson Dick.
Viewing will be Friday, February 22, 2008 at Rose City Cemetery and Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11:00am at the Athena Christian Church in Athena, Oregon. Graveside services will follow at the Athena Cemetery.
