Frederick Gustav Marklund, 62, of Lake Oswego, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2008, at OHSU with his family surrounding him. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 4 P.M. on Monday, June 30 at the Lewis and Clark College Chapel. Fred was born in Spokane, Washington on July 5, 1945. He was the oldest of two children born to Gustav and Hilda Marklund. Fred is survived by his wife, Carole Marklund, and five daughters, Julie and Danny Riley, Susan and J'hon Williams, Cammie and Matthew Longenecker, Nancy Solari, Samielle and Scott Brancato, along with four grandchildren, Whitney and Carmen Longenecker, and Jeremy and Joshua Riley.
Fred grew up in Pilot Rock, Oregon with his sister who currently lives in Spokane, WA, Kathie McClintock. He graduated from Pilot Rock High School in 1963, and also graduated from the University of Washington. Fred held multiple licenses, including a CPA license and a Real Estate Broker's License.
Fred was devoted to God and family and was influential in many people's lives because of his deep spiritual faith. He loved being pampered by his doting wife and 5 daughters and took great pride in his 2 granddaughters and was thrilled with the arrival of twin grandsons. Fred was a compassionate listener who demonstrated unconditional love to all. His hobbies included online auctions where he was a frequent winner, competitive marksmanship, driving his new sports car with the top down, various social activities including bunko and dancing, but most importantly quality time with his family and friends.
