George J. Perreault

August 4, 1925 — January 7, 2016

Perreault, George J.  Aug 4, 1925-Jan 7, 2016.  George was born in Troy New York, the oldest of five children of George H. and Gladys Perreault, and was raised in Seattle.  Trained as a navigator in the U.S. Army Air Corp George developed a love of flying.  In the 70's the family moved to Dietz Airpark in Canby where George was able to hangar his plane next to the house making short trips with the family on a regular basis.  He also flew many cross-country excursions with the family including trips as far away as Puerto Rico.

Joining Tyee Yacht Club of Portland in 1957 George captained many boats over the years including the Continental II, Crest, Eagle, and the former U.S. Army tug he named New Era where he spent the years since his beloved Bunny passed in 1995.  George loved everyone at the club in his own unique way and being on the water whether operating his tug on Opening Day, going on cruises, or simply relaxing on the stern was the highlight of his days.

George operated a successful insurance agency in Portland beginning in 1954 with Bernard-Perreault followed by Perreault and Daughters, Inc.  in 1985 and New Era, LLC in 1990.  His daughters have had an active role in the agency for many years and will continue the business going forward.

George was a loving husband to Bunny and father to Denise Perreault-Ehman, Jeanne Perreault (Eric Hutchinson), Michael Perreault, and Mary Perreault(Paul Gassett).  He was the very proud grandfather of Mark and Laura Ehman and Noelle Hutchinson.   He is survived by his brothers John Leo and Paul.  George will be missed but certainly not forgotten by those who knew him.

Services will be held January 19th at 11:30 AM at St. Charles Church, 5310 NE 42nd, followed by services at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd.  A reception will be immediately following at Tyee Yacht Club, 2929 NE Marine Dr.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association in the name of George and Bunny Perreault.
