Girlean J. Ellis, 69 died at Marquis Care at Mt. Tabor in Portland, Oregon, on Sunday, July 3, 2011.
Born June 18, 1942, in Shreveport, Louisiana, she lived in Shreveport, Louisiana before moving to Portland, Oregon in 1977, where she worked hard for a better life for her family. She was the backbone for the Ellis family and many others.
She was one of the Mothers of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church,
Girlean is survived by her children: Bobby Ellis, Betty Ellis, Linda Upchurch, Donnell Ellis, and Earle Wayne Rutherford, Jr.; her sisters: Velma McCoy, Dorothy Carter, Margaret Carter, and Ann Taylor all of Portland, Oregon; and her brother, Lemmie D. Johnson of Shreveport, Louisiana; her grandchildren: Rita Ogbeama of Portland, Latisha Williams, Lorenzo Williams, and Sierra Upchurch all of Marysville, Washington; and by many nieces and her favorite nephew, Talmadge "Mann" Ellis.
Loved ones waiting at the gates of heaven to take her hands include her mother Failure, her father Eddie, and her brothers: Benny C., Leo, Connell, and Ernest; as well as other loved ones: James, Jr., Mary Annette, Mrs. Emma Carter, and many more.
