Harvey Evan Lunning, 82, of Milwaukie, OR, passed away peacefully at Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Hospital in Happy Valley, OR, on the first fall storm of the year, Sunday, September 22, 2013.
Harvey was born September 20, 1931 in Clearbook, MN the son of the late Heio Detrick Lunning and Beret Olivia Dolalie.
On September 20, 1952 Harvey married Darlene Almira Teigland in the Alida Lutheran Church, in Clearwater County. In 1959 Harvey moved his family off his dairy farm to Milwaukie, Oregon where he ran a gas station.
Harvey attended Crookston Agricultural College, a four year college right after high school and was active in sports. Harvey had a true love for the outdoors and farming. He also loved to go deer hunting and fishing.
Harvey owned and ran his own construction company for over 40 years before retiring. He also through the years worked for Randall Construction Company as a building foreman, Precision Cast Parts as a machine operator, and a grain inspector for the State of Oregon.
Harvey and Darlene were members of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Portland, OR and later became members at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Happy Valley, OR.
Harvey is survived by his older sister Bernice Anderson in Sioux City, South Dakota, two nieces; Brenda Cummings in Becker, MN and Kim Waggoman in Sioux City, South Dakota, children; Belinda Duval of Milwaukie, OR, Kristy (Troy) Kalali-Thompson of Portland, OR, Amy (Lou) Solly of Battle Ground, Washington and David Lunning of Milwaukie, OR; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Preceded in death by his wife Darlene Almira Lunning, parents; Heio and Beret Lunning.
A memorial service will be held on 11 AM, Friday, September 27th at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 9800 SE 92nd Avenue, Happy Valley, OR 97086. Harvey will be transported and laid to rest next to his wife and parents in Berner, MN.
Calling hours will be Thursday, September 26, 2013 10 am to 5 pm at the Rose City Funeral Home, 5625 NE Fremont St Portland, OR 97213 where family and friends can come and say their last goodbyes.
