Herbert Dail Richard Sr. of Portland, Oregon, passed away on October 27, 2021. Herbert was born on June 2, 1939 to Mary and Sam Richard in Eros, Louisiana. After Herbert graduated from David Douglas High School in 1958, he worked as a welder and at the airport before going on to work at Tri-Met for 25 years. Herbert met his wife, Ruthie, of 63 years in high school, and they went on to have 5 children. In 1989, Herbert retired from Tri-Met and enjoyed fishing, sports, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Herbert is predeceased by his mother Mary Richard, his father Sam Richard, and his 2 sisters Ruby Jackson and Liz Allen. He is survived by his wife Ruthie; his 2 sons - Dail Jr. and Durron Richard; his 3 daughters - June White, Angela Graham, and Shenita Ladd, as well as 6 grandchildren - Jamala, Alana, Dail, Dominique, Kobe, and Amari, and 3 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Herbert had respect for God and the bible. He often studied the bible and attended Christian meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He looked forward to a better world when there will be no more sickness - Isaiah 33:24.
He will be dearly missed
